After a crazy year like 2020, who would think there would be anything good to celebrate? While there is so much that can be said about the widespread devastation, the frustrating, new challenges, endless anxieties... there is still so much to b grateful for - having our jobs, being close to loved ones and of course the holiday season.
Talal and I have spent so much time together this year and that too has been very special. So, before we celebrated Christmas and mommy's birthday, I decided to invite my husband on a. pre-holiday date night. While doing holiday drop offs, we drove by a restaurant named Riel. It was tucked away in Carl's neighborhood and I made quick note of it on my Google Maps list of places to go.
We ordered a few plates to share and to kick off our long weekend of indulgences -
Coconut-Lime Granita Oysters from Prince Edward Island (apparently they were not from Rhode Island.. I was wrong)
Yellowtail Crudo
Mushroom Empanadas
Grilled Eggplant with Soba Noodles and Coconut-Ginger Broth
Tempura Cauliflower with Kimchi Hot Sauce (YUM!)
Sticky Toffee Pudding with Foie Gras shavings and a Blood Toffee Sauce (sounds very weird but don't think about it. P.S. Worth the calories.)
