Not Leaving Without a Po-Boy

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

Talal, Diana and I took a weekend road trip to visit Mikey in NOLA.

On our first evening, we had dinner at a spot named Meril by Emril Lagasse. The next morning, we enjoyed brunch at the iconic Ruby Slipper with some spicy Bloody Mary's and delicious pickled green beans. Yes, in case you're wondering, I bought a jar and brought it home for safe keeping. On our final night we went for a late dinner at the Daisy Duke's, where I finally got my dose of gumbo and rice.

For some reason, we decided that we had to have a po-boy on this trip. Mikey had found a couple spots and somehow we were running out of days and mealtimes to eat them. So, finally on the last morning, before we drove back to Houston, we got some po-boys at Parkway Bakery & Tavern.

I went simple - shrimp and cole slaw. I'm still not a sandwich person, but I'm glad I finally tried a true, New Orleans style po-boy.
