There is one item that was on my Possibilities page before I even had a blog. It was the Silpat. Virtually nothing sticks to it. Cheese, Fruits, Caramel. Talal treated me to a surprise cooking class at Sur La Table in River Oaks.
I was the most advanced attendee in the class, but it was still a nice, easy going lunch. We learned how to make eggplant caponata bruschetta, cheese-stuffed arancini (deep-fried risotto balls; pronounce aranchini), seafood pasta with white wine and garlic, and home-made chocolate gelato.
I know it was supposed to be a surprise, but I was actually able to figure it out all by myself. With the class, I was able to get a 15% discount at the store. I chose the Silpat so I could finally try it out!
After I made it home, I ran to the kitchen and grated a whole block of cheddar onto the Silpat to bake to a crisp. Just as suspected, it slid right off.
PS. Featuring my new graduation necklace from Toot!
