Adieu Houston

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

To say goodbye, Talal took me out to dinner at Coltivare. I had it on my list of places to try. It seemed like a little neighborhood restaurant, but we were truly impressed when we went in. The place is small (probably about 12-15 tables), but it was PACKED. We waited nearly an hour to be seated. It wasn't a problem, though. We went to the back yard and sipped on some fo their specialty cocktails until we were invited to dine. During that time, we met a cute couple who are regualrs at the restaurant and were a blast to speak to. Claire is a dancer and her husband is an engineer. Who knows.. maybe Talal and I will take some more dance classes!

It was 9:15 and finally time to eat and boy were we starving! Their specialty appetizer was Cauliflower with pinenuts and raisins. It was hot and perfect. Then, Talal ordered pepperoni and I ordered the Potato and Pancetta Pizza. THe first thing that we noticed was that the pizzas were extremely heavy. Although the dough was light and fluffy, the toppings were creamy, heavy and fatty. It was great with a refreshing drink and a large appetite. We ran into the classic problem that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. It was far too much food. I tried as hard as I could, but I couldn't finish my pizza. Talal managed.

Dessert? No, thank you.

Sine I was traveling the next morning and Talal had work the next day, we quickly got the check and hopped into the car.
