Earth to Yara

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

For the first time ever, I decided that I felt like making lamb. Not just any lamb, lamb meatballs. Why? No idea.

I got 2 pounds of lamb and dumped them into a bowl, thinking that it should feed us for more than 1 meal. To that, I added a heaping tablespoon of red tomato paste for smoothness and richness, ground caraway, garlic powder, fresh oregano leaves, dried mint, and salt. Greek flavors, since I wasn't sure what else matched ground lamb. I rolled them into balls and placed them on a foil-lined cookie sheet to bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Sometimes you just have a brain fart and forget to take a picture to prove that you made lamb meatballs. On the bright side, my house smelled like lamb for 3 days and Talal couldn't stop raving about them. I think that's proof enough.

Since I was feeling like making this greek-esque, I also decided to make tzatziki. I got plain yogurt, loosened it with water, added a clove of garlic and the tzatziki seasoning that I got from Talal on Christmas. It essentially has garlic powder and ground oregano. As a second side, I grilled some onions, green bell peppers and fresh tomatoes on my Creuset grill. Simple, but really yummy next to this light, flavorful meal.

Wish I snapped a photo. I guess I didn't trust they would be worth posting about.
