Kooky Barb

Chili and chives

Talal and I were lucky to be invited to Park City Utah with Ryan and Missy Hanemann for my first ever ski trip. I didn't know what to expect. It was a bit exhausting. It was trickier that I expected it to be. I was frightened at the prospect of falling off the mountain.

After a couple long days on the slopes, Ryan and Missy invited us to join them at Barb and Michael's house for a cozy dinner. Barb had been a professional chef for many years before retiring in her quaint home with her husband and llama.

With high expectations and large appetites, we made our way over to dinner. It was three couples and the six of us enjoyed a warm, home-cooked meal. As we hid from the cold, we had mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, and chicken cordon bleu roulade with a mustard cream sauce.

Now, when I say kooky, I mean it. In the span of one dinner, I had to save the cream from boiling over, I saw Barb's mother's ashes, saw a 2 year old, plucked heirloom tomato, and toured barb's quirky home. It was a hoot. Now, that may be because of the multiple glasses of wine we drank, but I'm certain it would have been the same without the wine.
