The Ultimate Throwback

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

A year flies when you're having fun. It also flies when you're busy at work, exploring new cities, cooking too much food, eating too much ice cream, living you're life. That's how I felt about my first year of marriage. I'm so happy to have Talal in my life... especially when he comes up with the most sentimental dates. He took me to Rice University to see the James Turrell Skyspace and spend some time admiring this engineering wonder and spending uninterrupted, peaceful time together. The funny thing is that it was under construction, so we spent a few minutes Googling to see when construction ends and then went home to make dinner. This is one of those instances where thought really does count.

Since I can't let any celebration go unfed, Talal and I made whipped up a steakhouse dinner for ourselves. We spent as much on the mushrooms as we did on the steaks, but the meal was Roasted Mushrooms on top of a medium-rare filet mignon, lemon butter scallops, and garlic rosemary mashed potatoes.

Of course, I did say celebration... so, we had a slice of cake to finish off the night (a little sad-looking after 1 year in our freezer).
